A good qawali night needs three things: a strong qawwal party, clean sound and guests close enough to feel it. We arrange your qawali night in Islamabad for a wedding, a family gathering or a company evening. Winter weekends book early, so share your date on WhatsApp.
Most event setups are built for looking at. A qawali is built for listening. The qawwals sit on a low takht, the harmonium and tabla need their own mics, and the lead singer needs to hear himself over the chorus and the claps. If the sound is muddy, the night falls flat no matter how good the lights look.
So we plan the sound first, then the seating close to the takht, then the look. We book the qawwal party or work with the one you have chosen, agree the set length and breaks with them, and keep chai and kehwa moving so guests stay till the last kalaam.
A qawali fits into many kinds of events. These are the four we set up most.
Held after the nikah or as its own night in the shadi week, often at a farmhouse or on a lawn.
A smaller gathering at home or on a lawn, for a milestone, a homecoming or simply a winter evening.
An evening for staff, clients or partners, with dinner and a qawwal performance.
A winter night at a farmhouse, with a bonfire, floor seating and blankets.
Qawali nights are mostly held outdoors in the evening, so the season shapes the setup.
The best months for an open lawn qawali. Cool evenings and clear skies suit outdoor seating.
Bonfire season. Farmhouse qawalis with a fire, heaters, blankets and hot drinks. Weekends go fast.
Pleasant again, with a rain cover ready for spring showers.
Hot evenings, so qawalis move indoors or start late when the heat drops. Monsoon nights need a covered stage.
Many families avoid music during Muharram and Ramadan, so we plan qawali dates around them.
Book the full evening or only the parts you need.
We book a qawwal party that suits your event and budget, from a small group for a home mehfil to a larger party for a farmhouse night. We agree the set list, length, breaks and any special kalaam you want in advance, so there are no surprises on the night.
A low takht covered in white sheets and gao takiye for the qawwals, with a simple backdrop of fabric, lanterns or flowers. The stage stays low so guests on the floor can see the singers clearly.
Gaddas, takiyas, rugs and chandni sheets arranged close to the takht, with chairs at the back for elders. In winter we add blankets and heaters around the seating.
Separate mics for the lead singer, the chorus, the harmonium and the tabla, with monitors so the qawwals hear themselves. We send a sound technician who stays through the night and adjusts as the energy builds.
Warm white lights, lanterns, diyas and fairy lights instead of colour washes. The mood should feel like a courtyard at night, not a dance floor.
A safe fire pit at a farmhouse, with seating around it at a sensible distance and someone assigned to watch it through the night.
Karak chai, kehwa and snacks served through the night, and dinner timed for the break between sets. We coordinate the caterer so serving never interrupts a kalaam.
A photographer and videographer who know to film the qawwals and the guests' reactions, with clean audio taken from the sound desk.
Book any of these with your qawali night, and one planner coordinates all of them on the same timeline.
Stage, flowers, entrance, table and room decor for weddings, birthdays and corporate events, designed as one look.
Photographers for every function, working to your running order with an agreed family photo list.
Highlight films, full coverage and clean audio for the nikah and speeches, planned with the photographer.
Wedding and event catering, BBQ, hi tea and live stations, with serving times planned into the event.
Marquees, shamianas, side walls, flooring, chairs and heaters for farmhouses, lawns and rooftops.
Speakers, mics, mixers and DJs for mehndis, qawalis and corporate events, with a technician on site.
Balloon arches, garlands, walls and ceiling balloons for birthdays, showers and corporate events.
House lights, fairy light canopies, stage lighting and uplights for shadi homes, marquees and halls.
A qawali night is a popular addition to Islamabad weddings, usually after the nikah or before the mehndi. Here is how we fit it in.
The qawali becomes the night people talk about, not the one the family had to manage.
How we work: Dream Event Planners plans and runs your event. We bring trusted decorators, caterers, sound teams and photographers, or work with the ones you already booked, and one planner manages all of them against a written timeline. Read more about us.
It depends mostly on the qawwal party you choose, then on the venue, seating and sound. A home mehfil with a small party costs much less than a farmhouse night with a well known group. Share your budget and we suggest options that fit it.
