The dholki is where the shadi really starts: cousins, a dholak, tappay and far too much chai. As your dholki event planner in Islamabad, we handle the seating, lights, sound and decor for drawing rooms, rooftops and lawns. Tell us how many nights you are planning and we price them together.
Most dholkis in Islamabad happen at home, a week or a few nights before the barat. The whole evening sits around one thing: the girls with the dholak and a spoon, singing tappay and boliyan while the rest of the family joins in. The setup should pull everyone close to that circle, not spread them across the room.
We lay out floor seating around the dholak, keep space for dancing, and put the lights and flowers where photos will be taken. We do not bring hall style stages into a drawing room. Furniture that gets in the way is moved or covered, and we put it back afterwards.
A dholki fits wherever the family gathers. These are the four places we set up most.
The classic setup for 30 to 50 people, with floor seating and a dholak corner.
More space under a shamiana or canopy, with fairy lights overhead. Popular in the G and I sectors.
For bigger families in F-6, F-7, E-7, DHA and Bahria Town, with seating for 80 to 100.
One setup left in place for several nights, with flowers refreshed between them.
Dholkis are evening events at home, so the season decides indoors or out.
The best time for rooftop and lawn dholkis. Evenings are cool and you can sit outside until late.
Cold nights move most dholkis indoors. For rooftops we add a closed shamiana, heaters and blankets on the floor seating.
Rooftops work again, but spring rain can arrive fast. We keep a covered area ready.
Indoor dholkis with fans or air conditioning, or late night rooftop dholkis once the heat drops.
Dholkis often run past midnight in residential streets, so we set the sound to a level that keeps the neighbours on side.
Book the full setup or just the parts you need for your space.
Gaddas, takiyas, rugs and chandni sheets arranged in a loose circle around the dholak, with a few chairs at the back for elders. We bring enough for your guest count and pack it away after, so you do not have to borrow from relatives.
A low platform or rug for the dholak and the singers, framed with flowers or a fabric backdrop. It becomes the focus of the room and the spot for most dholki photos.
Warm string lights overhead, lanterns on the floor and lights on the gate and front of the house. Islamabad streets are quiet at night, and a lit house tells every guest they have found the right place.
Marigold strings, parandi hangings and colourful drapes in yellow, orange, pink or green, hung along the walls and ceiling. They make the room feel like a shadi house without heavy decor.
A small speaker and mic for the songs, or a DJ if the family wants dancing later in the night. We keep the volume sensible for a residential street.
A backdrop with the couple's names, plus props like quote boards, dupattas and parandas for the girls' photos.
A shamiana or canopy on the rooftop with side panels in winter, fairy lights under it and a safe power line from the house. We check the roof access and railing before we plan the layout.
If the mayun follows the dholki at home, we switch the drapes to yellow and add the low seat and ubtan trays, which saves building a second setup.
Book any of these with your dholki, and one planner coordinates all of them on the same timeline.
Stage, flowers, entrance, table and room decor for weddings, birthdays and corporate events, designed as one look.
Photographers for every function, working to your running order with an agreed family photo list.
Highlight films, full coverage and clean audio for the nikah and speeches, planned with the photographer.
Wedding and event catering, BBQ, hi tea and live stations, with serving times planned into the event.
Marquees, shamianas, side walls, flooring, chairs and heaters for farmhouses, lawns and rooftops.
Speakers, mics, mixers and DJs for mehndis, qawalis and corporate events, with a technician on site.
Balloon arches, garlands, walls and ceiling balloons for birthdays, showers and corporate events.
House lights, fairy light canopies, stage lighting and uplights for shadi homes, marquees and halls.
Many Islamabad families hold three, five or seven dholki nights. Here is how we keep that simple.
You build the setup once and enjoy the whole week.
